Jockey Anton Marcus Suspended

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an inquiry held on 28 October 2010, Jockey Anton Marcus was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7, in that whilst riding WILD SWAN, in Race 4 run at the Vaal Racecourse on Thursday 21 October 2010, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to other runners at approximately the 200 metre mark.

Mr Marcus pleaded guilty to the charge.

The Inquiry Board found Mr Marcus guilty and imposed a suspension from riding in races for a period of one week.

Mr Marcus has the right of appeal against the penalty imposed.

Apprentice Jockey Juan-Paul van der Merwe Suspended

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that Apprentice Jockey Juan-Paul van der Merwe was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7, in that as the rider of TWO STRIKES, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to other runners at approximately the 700m mark of Race 7 at the Kenilworth Racecourse on 27 October 2010.

Mr van der Merwe signed an Admission of Guilt and he has been suspended from riding in race meetings for a period of one week from 13 November to 19 November 2010, both days inclusive.

Jockey Barend Vlooh Suspended

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that Jockey Barend Vlooh was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7, in that as the rider of WAIT A MINUTE, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to HEY  THERE DELILAH when he shifted out at approximately the 300m mark of Race 2 at the Fairview Racecourse on 29 October 2010.

Mr Vlooh signed an Admission of Guilt and he has been suspended from riding in race meetings for a period of one week from 30 October to 5 November 2010, both days inclusive.

Apprentice Jockey Gareth Wright Suspended

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that Apprentice Jockey Gareth Wright was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7, in that as the rider of BEAT THAT, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to other runners when he shifted in at approximately the 1400m mark of Race 3 at the Kenilworth Racecourse on 30 October 2010.

Mr Wright signed an Admission of Guilt and he has been suspended from riding in race meetings for a period of one week from 7 November to 13 November 2010, both days inclusive.
