Marco Van Rensburg Suspended For 14 Days

Jockey has waived his Right of Appeal

The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa confirms that at an Inquiry held in Johannesburg on Thursday, 06 June 2024, Jockey Marco van Rensburg was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3.

The particulars being that he failed to ride Grape Shot out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards and prejudiced his chances of obtaining fourth place in Race 8 at the Vaal Racecourse on 16 May 2024.

Jockey van Rensburg pleaded guilty and was found guilty of the charge.

The Inquiry Board, after considering the mitigating factors, as well as Jockey van Rensburg’s record, imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of fourteen (14) days.

Jockey van Rensburg has waived his Right of Appeal against the penalty imposed and is suspended from riding in races from 16 June to 29 June 2024 (both days inclusive).
