Catering For Change?

While the sophisticated elegant face of horseracing was exhibited to the world via Tellytrack and the fancy society venues on the beautiful Kenilworth lawns on L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate day, the service in the Pocket Power lounge was nothing short of pathetic.

While Mrs Gaynor Rupert is to be lauded for her efforts in getting behind this big day on our calendar, the dismal incompetent approach of Gold Circle (or is it Phumelela or even the RA?) in the Cape continues unabated.

Old order or new order – it’s is the same old bungling unprofessionalism sadly

Some observations:

• The waitressing staff were untrained and incompetent and confirmed that most had never worked in this capacity previously.

• The food was cold on arrival and was late.

• The tables were not cleared of used plates and glasses as is the basic expectation of even the most ordinary establishment.

• There are nails in the seat of some of the chairs that have been there for some time. They were notified of this previously but have done nothing about it.

• There are no debit card facilities and people wishing to use the most common form of payment today, had to go into the kitchen on the first floor to pay their bills.

• The escalator stopped working halfway through the afternoon.

It will be the same on Met Day and at the 2014 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate.

Until the talking and smoke and mirrors stops  for good, and a competent person takes control, the circus will go on.
