After riding in barrier trials on Friday the duo have been passed fit to resume race riding at the Happy Valley race meeting on Wednesday, 12 January 2022 and Sunday, 16 January 2022 respectively.

The duo were injured in a fall in the HK$24 Million Gr1 LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint on Sunday 12 December. Four jockeys, including Hewitson, Purton, Karis Teetan, and Japanese star, Yuichi Fukunaga came down.

Teetan commenced riding immediately, while Fukunaga had been treated in isolation as the visiting jockey did not undergo quarantine under the ‘racing bubble’ arrangement. He fractured a collar bone and is recovering.
