With the Cape Guineas now behind us, the attention turns to the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate to be run at Kenilworth on Saturday 10 January.
The entertainment line-up for the Cape’s most prestigious horseracing and social calendar event, will feature UK queen of dance, DJ Lora, and Italian royal, Princess Scilla DJ, set to supply the sensational soundtrack for the day’s much-anticipated after-party.
Befitting the sovereign origins of this 154-year-old annual occasion, these critically acclaimed artists will bring elegance and sophistication to the event, adding to the already-stylish ensembles & Cape hospitality on the trackside and excitement on the turf.

First on stage, and making her LQP debut, will be Princess Scilla DJ, whose noble birth as a scion of the Ruffo di Calabria, one of the noblest families in Italy makes her the ideal fit for the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate. Part of the current set of European IT girls – embodying charm, style and glamour – she has become a celebrated DJ, performing in the most prominent private and corporate events around the world. She has graced the pages of Italian Vogue, Spanish Vogue, ELLE, Marie Claire and many more leading publications
Princess Scilla will kick off the evening’s celebrations from 18:30 to 19:30, before the headlining act, popular LQP regular and SA-to-UK export, DJ Lora, takes to the stage until 23:00.
With residencies in London, Dubai and Paris, Lora’s captivating fusion of grace and grunge has seen her perform at numerous affluent events – including Simon Le Bon’s 50th birthday party, exclusive Formula 1 parties, and even private gatherings for Princes William and Harry – with Sir Paul McCartney, Pete Tong, Kim Kardashian and Annie Leibovitz amongst her many fans.
Before the after-party, guests will enjoy the event’s traditional blue and white Best Dressed and Best Hat competitions, exceptional L’Ormarins wine and delicious culinary creations, and a display of rare and antique automobiles from the Franschhoek Motor Museum, all in the comfort and luxury of the various exclusive LQP hospitality areas.
The main event, the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate 2015’s exciting 12-race card, will set the country’s finest thoroughbreds thundering down the track in pursuit of the coveted R1 million purse on 10 January 2015 at Kenilworth Racecourse, Cape Town.
