Local Racing Is Back!

The first is off at 12h25

After two days of no local racing, eight races are carded on the Vaal Classic course this afternoon.

Winning Form-sponsored jockey Keagan de Melo has seven rides booked with a few decent winning chances and he may be the man worth following.

The first is due off at 12h25.

Viva De Janeiro from the Johan Janse van Vuuren stable takes his place in Race 1.

He produced a promising debut effort over 1000m at Turffontein, five weeks ago. He was slow into stride, but the manner in which he finished off his race was eye-catching. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since.

The son of Oratorio would have gained from the experience and will love the rise to 1450m. With the natural improvement that is expected, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

Trainer Paul Matchett saddles Manz Knight in Race 4. He raced wide around the turn and into the straight over 1800m last time.

However, the manner in which he finished off his race that day was encouraging. His penultimate run when fifth against winners was encouraging.

The son of Gimmethegreenlight has cracked a good draw of two and with a bit of luck, he can shed his maiden tag.
