Trainer Justin Snaith made it a clean sweep of the Fairview treble feature programme on Good Friday when Bernard Fayd’herbe turned the tables on S’manga Khumalo and produced Captain Swarovski with a sustained late burst to catch the one-eyed Querari colt Dynamic Speed late to win the R150 000 Listed East Cape Nursery.
After Fayd’herbe had won the first of the features, the non black-type Oaks Plate on Eros’s Girl and S’manga Khumalo drove Door Of Deception to a sensational win over Charles Lytton in the East Cape Guineas, Snaith would have been all smiles as Captain Swarovski came from last to win well at his third start.

Jockey Bernard Fayd’herbe, no doubt still smarting and blushing from the previous race reversal, produced Captain Swarovski from last and around his field with a swooping challenge from last after the pacy Dynamic Speed had done all the donkey work and looked a winner.
Coming down the outside from eight lengths off, Captain Swarovski appeared to lug in and to cross and hamper Dynamic Speed in his run for the line, but he had 1,25 lengths between himself and the pacesetter.
He won at 9-2 in a time of 70,19 secs and there was no further action after the race review.
Captain Swarovski was coming off his Kenilworth maiden win on 7 February at his second start and he looks a good sort in the making.
Yvette Bremner’s Rebel King filly La Rebel maintained her consistent form to stay on well for third.
The 8-10 favourite and previously unbeaten Juan Two Three failed to get into things after appearing to be going well and he ran a quiet 2,75 length fourth. Don’t write him off.
Captain Swarovski was bred by Patricia Devine Investments from Captain Al out of the twice winning Fort Wood mare, Crystal Symphony.
Racing in the distinctive royal blue and gold silks of Joburg attorney Mike De Broglio, he was purchased for R375 000 on the National Yearling Sale and looks a colt who will easily get a mile in time.
