The fast improving Miesque’s Approval colt Shine Like A Star is going in the right direction and he followed up on his recent maiden win with a smooth victory in Friday’s R150 000 Listed East Cape Nursery run over the Fairview 1200m.

Jockey Aldo Domeyer’s decision to stick with the colt was vindicated when he ran out an easy winner of the prestigious local 2yo contest.

With Justin Snaith’s smart Trippi filly Cotton Candy  going off a 15 to 10 favourite, Shine Like A Star represented some good value for his supporters at 10 to 1.

In a true run race, Shine Like A Star moved through the nine horse field smartly and got the better of the pacy Snaith challenger Cotton Candy by 1,50 lengths to win in a time of 70,36 secs.

One of the other runners in the Gavin Smith trio, Frederick Fox, ran on nicely for third.

Shine Like A Star has won 2 of 5 starts with 2 places and R146 075 in stakes.

Shine Like A Star was bred by Mr and Mrs Anton Procter.

He is by Miesque’s Approval out of the three time winning Qui Danzig mare, Sky Gazer. He should go a mile in time to come.

Shine Like A Star sold for R60 000 on the National Two Year Old Sale.

Cotton Candy should also atone soon for her two consecutive feature seconds when she reverts back to her own company.

The Enchanting Currency Of Fate

It is eerie to think that there would have been no Siren’s Call, Sound Of Warning, or for that matter Call To Unite, had fate not decreed that Enchanted Cove follow her dam to South Africa, and that Peter de Beyer had the foresight to return Elusive Fort back home from the States as well!
