Late Scratching In Gold Rush

Race jumps at 15h40

Dean Kannemeyer’s Pas De Nom is a late scratching from today’s R7,5 million WSB Gold Rush and this reduces the field to fifteen.

It still looks a tricky fourth leg of the Pick 6.

Michele Wing’s Racing News chatted to the trainers:

Royal Aussie: “His form into this race is better than the others (Itsrainingwilliam and Triple Time), but at home there’s not a lot between them. He (Royal Aussie) is starting to come right at the right time”, Justin Snaith.

King Regent: “His last run he got left standing in the stalls. We’ve been reschooling him. He got left 6 lengths and gave the winner 4 kilos. The winner ran 2nd to the stable companion in the Politician Stakes. The form has been franked. I think he’s definitely a huge, huge runner”, Glen Kotzen.

Winter Greeting: “Winter Greeting has had a really good preparation. Her form is perfect. She has a little deep draw to contend with. I do think she’s a filly on the up and should make her presence felt”, Sean Tarry.

Dave The King: “Dave The King ran 5th in the Cape Guineas, but is drawn wide”, Vaughan Marshall.

Time Fo Orchids: “There’s always a bit of doubt about her staying the mile, but that’s not helped by the draw either”, Vaughan Marshall.

See It Again: “He’s tightened up nicely from his prep run over 1400m. He’s looking magnificent. We’re hoping for a big run. He’s got a good draw”, Michael Roberts.

Seeking The One: “Winner of the Ready-To-Run. He’s got a decent draw and one of the higher rated horses in the race”, Brett Crawford.

Billy Spellbound: “Billy Spellbound’s last race was eye-catching. He’s got it all to do at the ratings, but he’s had a good preparation”, Sean Tarry.

Max The Otter: “He’s got good open company form. It’s hard to assess proper chances in this race, but he’s certainly not without a chance”, Candice Bass-Robinson.

Lord William: “Lord William is very well, he’s cracked a draw. He’s very, very well”, Vaughan Marshall.

Hammies Hero: “We’re going to take our chances over the mile, but I think it might be a bit far for him, plus we’re drawn 16, so we’ve got everything against us. We’re hopeful with him”, Candice Bass-Robinson.

Triple Time: “Not often I say I think I’ve nailed something, I think I’ve got them (Itsrainingwilliam and Triple Time) in a race of this prizemoney, I think I’ve got them spot-on”, Justin Snaith.

Asiye Phambili: “Has solid Joburg form. She took a little bit of time to find her feet here. After her first prep run, she definitely has made good progress”, Sean Tarry.

Champion Warrior: “He would have to step up against some of these horses to be competitive, but I must say he looks outstanding and his work’s been great”, Brett Crawford.

Itsrainingwilliam: “Not often I say I think I’ve nailed something, I think I’ve got them (Itsrainingwilliam and Triple Time) in a race of this prizemoney, I think I’ve got them spot-on”, Justin Snaith.
