It’s Official- They Are Ready To Run!

Big payday for some excited owners as final field unveiled

photo (2)A high quality field of sixteen 2013 Cape Ready To Run graduates will line up to contest the R2 million Lanzerac Ready To Run Stakes at Kenilworth on Saturday 22 November.

The inaugural running of the event in 2013 was won by Brett Crawford’s Captain America and the Phillipi trainer has one of the star filly propects in Alexis, as well as two reserve runners.

The final field was unveiled on Thursday afternoon at a sumptuous luncheon hosted by the Cape Thoroughbred Sales team and new Lanzerac RTR ambassador, Morgan Deane Smith.

The event was attended by racing personalities and included representatives of the various runners.

There was varied reaction to the all-important barrier draw positions and, as usual, some were not as fortunate as others.

One man who will be smiling though is Sean Tarry, on whose behalf Amanda Carey pulled a 1 draw for Chris Van Niekerk’s and Markus Jooste’s smashing Trippi colt, Zambezi River.

The Drakenstein Stud product is unbeaten in two starts and is likely to enjoy the 1400m.

Milnerton trainer Joey Ramsden fared a little better than he did last year when he drew 12 for the record-breaking Brutal Force, a talking horse who is likely to mature into a better 4yo.

The generous stakes are paid all the way down to tenth position.
