A beautiful filly by deceased multiple Gr1 producing champion sire Captain Al topped the charts at the close on Day 1 of the KZN Yearling Sale when Ashburton trainer Louis Goosen signed the chit at R320 000.
The sale is being held at Sibaya Casino just outside of Umhlanga Rocks.
Bred and consigned by Boland Stud, lot 93 is closely related to Gr3 winner Redcarpet Captain and is out of Rich Man’s Gold daughter America’s Cup – a half-sister to Met winner Martial Eagle and dual Algoa Cup winner Nebula
The top selling male was Lot 79 from Highlands Stud, a Jackson colt out of Winter Reserve by Western Winter.
He was purchased by Eight Mile Lodge for R300 000. A first foal, his dam is a half-sister to Captain’s Reserve and the second dam is the unbeaten Equus Champion Private Reserve.
On the corresponding day last year, a Duke Of Marmalade filly sold for R460 000, while a Visionaire colt topped the charts at R320 000.
There is plenty to come and the sale continues on Friday at 12h00.
