The KZN Breeders Awards function for the 2019/20 season was held at the Nottingham Road Hotel on Friday evening.
The theme was ‘A Touch Of Tweed’ and despite the lockdown restrictions and social distancing, it was a typically intimate gathering of the local band of breeders and guests, including sponsor representatives, to celebrate the nationwide successes of the #KZNbred.
St John Gray’s Graystone Stud-bred mare Ronnie’s Candy, a sensational winner of the R425 000 Gr1 HSH Princess Charlene Empress Club Stakes at Turffontein in June, was a multiple award winner, including KZN Breeders Horse Of The Year.
The chestnut Ronnie’s Candy is by the ill-fated King Of Kings (Sadler’s Wells ) out of the three-time winner Bennie And the Jets (Jet Master) – who received the accolade as Broodmare Of The Year.
