It’s another varied and busy week for hard travelling trainer Tobie Spies.
Today he fields five runners in the Kimberley Nursery at Flamingo Park. In between he is at the Vaal. On Saturday at Hollywoodbets Greyville he will be slugging it out in the Gr1 big league.
The Spies family have an illustrious track record in the Diamond City’s major 2yo feature of the season, and have played a dominant role since Indigofera opened their account in the race back in 2010.

Last year they dominated proceedings when saddling the top three home – Marco van Rensburg riding a confident race to get the Where’s That Tiger filly Pulcheria up ahead of her more fancied stalemates All About The Bass (Warm White Night) and Andalusian (Gitano Hernando).
Today van Rensburg is aboard recent maiden scorer Grand Rapid for Cliffie Miller.
But the Spies quintet is a competitive one and championship chasing Muzi Yeni could be aboard the right one in the Alado gelding, Axios.
A runaway maiden winner here, he followed up with a hard fought 1300m success over stablemate Baby Let’s Mambo last time – and they meet again.
Axios is 2kgs worse off for that narrow beating last time, and Muzi will be strategizing – with Baby Let’s Mambo drawn wide.
The race is run over 1400m.
There are nine races on the card with the first off at 12h20.
The Bipot starts in the second at 12h50.
