The countdown has begun in earnest for the 110th anniversary celebrations of Kenyan horseracing which is being held at the Ngong Racecourse on 18 January 2015.
The Jockey Club of Kenya, under the guidance of Tom Fraser and a committee, recently undertook to make the day the very best that Kenya has ever experienced.
The Kenya Guineas is Ngong’s first classic of the season and will take pride of place on the day.
A four nation jockey challenge, which will include riders from South Africa, Mauritius and Zimbabwe, will provide an innovative first ever challenge for the local riders.
This week organizer Tom Fraser confirmed that a discounted air-travel arrangement had also been struck with Kenya Airways ex Johannesburg and Harare.
“We have some excellent accommodation arranged and are also looking at a few hotels in the Karen area, which will make transport easily accessible to and from the racecourse and other activities for all guests.”
The Kenya Airways Group Offer is JNB-NBO-JNB ( 13th to 22nd January 2015) and will be at a special discounted rate of USD 275 excluding taxes for the return journey Johannesburg-Nairobi –Johannesburg.
Taxes are USD 274 per person but may fluctuate by the date of ticketing.
Total return fare per person is USD 549.
Kenyan buyers have been purchasing horses in South Africa at the National 2yo Sale since 2005 and there will be plenty of South African representation on the classic day.
“We look forward to extending our renowned Kenyan hospitality to all our SA supporters on this big day. Accommodation will be made available through our members, and we will host guests, or book them into local hotels if that is preferred. For those who wish to see more of our beautiful country we can make holiday arrangements for game park visits, safaris of 3-4 days or longer, deep sea fishing excursions, cattle and horse stud visits and other day trips.
