The Justin Snaith-trained dual Gr1 winner Snowdance looks all set to defend her Majorca Stakes title on Sun Met day, after she opened her season account with a Pinnacle Stakes exercise gallop at Kenilworth on Saturday.
Starting at a prohibitive 1-3 in the 1400m contest, Snowdance was given a surpremely confident ride by Richard Fourie and lengthened to hold the gallant Goodtime Gal to an unextended 2 lengths in a time of 86,42 secs.
Coming off three consecutive Gr1 seconds since beating Star Express to win the Majorca on Met Day, Snowdance looked a cut above her five opponents and she duly delivered in style to give punters a Bipot bonus.
She could take her place in the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate on 5 January and take on the top four in the Green Point Stakes. What a race SA’s most prestigious weight-for-age mile is developing into!
A R2 million National Yearling Sale purchase, the dual Gr1 winner Snowdance has earned at all of her 9 starts – having won 5 races in total and took her stakes bank to R2 141 000.
The facile winner was bred by Cheveley Stud and is yet another top-class filly sired by the late champion sire Captain Al (Al Mufti) – she was his fifth Cape Fillies Guineas winner last season.
She is a full-sister to the Listed Laisserfaire Stakes and Lady’s Pendant winner Victorian Secret.
Snowdance is out of Gr3 Kenilworth Fillies Nursery winner Spring Lilac (Joshua Dancer) – a half-sister to Equus Champions Bela-Bela and Rabiya.
