Snaith Racing is entering a new era with the departure of longtime stable jockey Richard Fourie, who has accepted a riding contract in Hong Kong.

Fourie will ride his last meeting in South Africa on 19 August and Snaith Racing has welcomed Bernard Fayd’herbe in his place.

“Richard has been an absolute pleasure to deal with over the years and I will not only miss him as my stable jockey but as a friend too. I know he is going to make South Africa proud over there and I wish him the best of luck,” said Justin Snaith.

Snaith is excited about teaming up with Fayd’herbe, and with whom Snaith Racing has already enjoyed much success over the years.

“Bernard has always had close ties to the stable and although he has big shoes to fill I am certain he will add enormous value to our stable,” said Snaith.

Fayd’herbe will take up the mount on Futura in the GR.1 Champions Cup this month after being sidelined due to his commitment with King of Pain.

After the Gold Challenge Fayd’herbe became available again for Futura in the Vodacom July, but the connections of Futura did not feel comfortable changing riders at that point after committing Sean Cormack.

“Futura has come through his race particularly well and I was extremely pleased with his run in the July with top weight. Bernard will regain his ride and I was so pleased Sean Cormack could accommodate us and help in the interim. He’s a star,” said Snaith.

Fayd’herbe will ride exclusively for Snaith but he is contracted to Ridgemont Stud and will be obligated to ride their horses first.
