‘July Gallop’ At Scottsville

This should be interesting

The KZN Capital City of Pietermaritzburg is often referred to as ‘Sleepy Hollow’ but it could liven up dramatically on Wednesday with the appearance at Scottsville of two long absent Gr1 stars, who are both entries in the 2018 Vodacom Durban July.

Flashback: Legislate wins Gold Challenge

The 5yo Dual Gr1 winner Rabada (112) returns from an 18 month break and squares up in a 1000m Barrier Trial to 2014 Vodacom July winner Legislate (117), whose stud career at Drakenstein was abandoned due to fertility issues. Both are still entires.

A 7yo son of Dynasty, Legislate  has been away from track action for three years and will be ridden by last weekend’s East Cape Derby winning jockey Richard Fourie, who was his rider in all seven of his wins, including four Gr1’s.

There has been plenty of track talk from Summerveld that Legislate has been working up a storm. Jono Snaith confirmed recently that he was a happy and healthy horse.

Rabada races out of the Brett Crawford yard and started his career with Mike Azzie.

He is carded to race in the Mayfair Speculators silks.

The Barrier Trial is off at 12h00.
