Juddmonte Star Headed For Japan

A dual Gr1 winner

Juddmonte has announced that Westover, the dual Group One Classic-winning son of Frankel, has been sold and will stand at Yushun Stallion Station in Hokkaido, Japan for the 2024 season.

He will be syndicated, and a fee is yet to be determined.

Westover was retired following his courageous run in the Gr1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe after sustaining  a career-ending injury.

Juddmonte said that he has given them tremendous pleasure over the last three seasons, highlighted by his Gr1 Irish Derby win and his track record-breaking performance in the Gr1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud.

Ralph Beckett said: “I am very proud of the horse and what he has achieved, he gave his all every day at home and on the racecourse and we will all miss him.”

This year he has shown an exceptional level of talent to compete with the best middledistance horses in the world.

Juddmonte said that they are honoured to have bred and raced such a talented colt and he is up there with the very best of Frankel’s sons.

Given his tremendously consistent race record, along with his beautiful conformation and pedigree, he is sure to make a successful contribution to the Japanese Breeding Industry.
