Joey’s A Champ, Anytime

First due off @ 12h35

Eight races are carded at the Vaal this afternoon. The first is due off at 12h35 with the lucky last scheduled for 16h35.

A reminder to take the free-to-play Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge.

Lady Fallon from the Lucky Houdalakis stable takes her place in Race 6. She produced a strong late burst when second over 1400m on this course last time.

The way she finished off her race that day suggests that she will love the rise to the mile. The daughter of Act Of War is above average and she can return to winning ways.

Joey Soma -saddles Anytime Champ (Pic – Chase Liebenberg)

Trainer Joey Soma sends out Anytime Champ in Race 8 and he may be the horse to close off the meeting.

He finished 0.1 lengths behind Zoombomber last time.

He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

He has dropped from a merit rating of 91 right down to 53.

The 1400m will be right up his alley and with just 52.5kgs on his back, he may be the one to cause the upset.
