Top Cape jockey Aldo Domeyer faces the ominous prospect of taking on his Dad Andrew Fortune when he returns to defend his title in the 2nd running of the Cape Jockeys Chase which will be held at Durbanville Racecourse on Saturday.

The inaugural Jockeys Chase was won by the former Met winning jockey last year, when run over 100m at Kenilworth, and things could be tricky this time round with the distance upped to 150m at the country course, with its undulating surface.

The late entry of Andrew Fortune is bound to see a large crowd turn out to watch what should be a spectacle. The race will be run straight after the final event on the Durbanville card.

This year’s event also sees a bigger field of 24 riders competing.

Each Jockey is sponsored by various horseracing stakeholders and all proceeds will be donated to the Western Cape Association for Persons with Disabilities. This charity caters for the needs of over 10 000 persons with disabilities annually.

Great prizes are on offer to on -course punters who will be asked to forecast the winner.
