Jockey Sandile Khathi Suspended

Has right of appeal against penalty imposed

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Gqeberha on Wednesday 26 June 2024, Jockey Sandile Khathi was charged with a contravention of Rule 77.1.1.

The particulars being that he presented himself to take part in a race at Fairview Racecourse on 14 June 2024, when a specimen of his breath disclosed 024 milligrams per 100 millilitres as per the provisions of Rule 77.2.1.a concentration of alcohol (a banned substance) above the threshold of 0.

Jockey Khathi pleaded guilty to the charge.

After reviewing the evidence, the Inquiry Board found Jockey Khathi guilty as charged. After giving careful consideration to his record and all aggravating and mitigating factors, a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of fourteen (14) days was imposed.

Jockey Khathi has the Right of Appeal against the penalty imposed.
