J&B Claim

Far be it for me to rain on the J&B parade (which is why I waited for Saturday to end before penning this) but like so many racing enthusiasts I am also an avid sailor so when the J&B marketers claim that their race is the oldest sponsored sports event in the country, I would differ.

As Eddie Cassar should know, the Lipton Cup lays claim to that record and was first sailed for in Table bay over 100 years ago. Maybe because last year’s Lipton was won by The Royal Natal Yacht Club might have something to do with the claim!
