The feature focus swings North this weekend and Saturday sees the first leg of the World Sports Betting SA Triple Crown and the Wilgerbosdrift Triple Tiara with the running of the World Sports Betting Gr2 Gauteng Guineas and the Wilgerbosdrift Gr2 Gauteng Fillies Guineas respectively over 1600m on the Turffontein Standside track.

Both fields have attracted strong entries with a full complement of 16 runners in the R1-million World Sports Betting Gauteng Guineas and 15 runners in the R750,000 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas.

The World Sports Betting SA Triple Crown for 3-year-olds is the richest series of races in Africa and comprises Saturday’s feature as well as the R1 5 million WSB Gr1 SA Classic to be run over 1800m at Turffontein on Saturday 4 March. The third leg is the R1,5 million WSB Gr1 SA Derby to be run over 2450m at Turffontein on Saturday 1 April.

A bonus of R2 million will be paid to connections of the horse that wins all three legs of the WSB SA Triple Crown.

The Wilgerbosdrift SA Triple Tiara for 3-year-old fillies is the richest series of races for fillies in Africa and comprises Saturday’s feature and then the R1,25 million Wilgerbosdrift Gr1 SA Fillies Classic run over 1800m at Turffontein on Saturday 4 March.

The third leg is the R750 000 Wilgerbosdrift Gr2 SA Oaks run over 2450m at Turffontein on Saturday 1 April. A bonus of R1 million will be paid to the connections of the filly that wins all three legs of the Wilgerbosdrift SA Triple Tiara.

There will also be a R500 000 Pick 6 carryover at the meeting with the pool like to reach R3 million.
