International Opportunities Aplenty!

Diarise - Highlands on 10 June

A quite mesmerising range of international pedigrees are among the 73 lots up for auction at the CTS Mares and Fillies for Stud Select Sale on 10 June.

Read about the exciting first here.

The draft includes 19 of 25 impeccably bred mares purchased by CTS at in Europe who, to top it all, are all in foal to leading South African stallions.

Galileo (Sadler’s Wells – Urban Sea)

The internationally acquired mares include four by Galileo (IRE) and four by Fastnet Rock (AUS), and one apiece by Green Desert (USA), Henrythenavigator (USA), Invincible Spirit (IRE), Daaher (CAN), Darshaan (GB), Holy Roman Emperor (IRE), High Chapparal (IRE), Proclamation (IRE), Mastercraftsman (IRE), Medicean (GB).

In addition to this, a variety of well bred and top-performed broodmares from local studs will pass through the ring.

CTS Managing Director Adrian Todd commented: “About two years ago we bought quality mares in Europe with the specific aim of improving the gene pool in South Africa, giving our breeders the opportunity to breed to some of the best bloodlines available.

“The mares initially arrived in foal by some top international stallions. From that band we’ll have four foals by Frankel and 18 foals by Rock Of Gibraltar on sale at the 2017 Cape Premier Sale when they will be yearlings.

“They were covered again, this time in South Africa by some of our top stallions, so buyers will be getting extraordinary value at the select Mares and Fillies for Stud Sale.”

To highlight just a few, consider the international depth and potential value of the following mares:

Lot 1: Daffodil (IRE), by Fastnet Rock from Roman Empress (x Sadler’s Wells):  She hails from the family of stallion The Great Gatsby and Roman Empress.  She’s in foal for just the second time (to Captain Al) and her first foal (by Frankel), will come under the hammer at CTS Premier, 2017.

Lot 8: Fire Stone (IRE), BY Fastnet Rock from Dance To The Top (x Sadler’s Wells):  They don’t come much better-bred than this. Fire Stone is a half-sister to recently deceased stallion Bankable, himself a brilliant track performer. She has a Rock Of Gibraltar foal at foot (for CTS 2017) and is in foal again, this time to Silvano.

Lot 52: Spirited (IRE), another young mare with a Rock Of Gibraltar colt at foot (for CTS 2017) and a Silvano in her tummy. Spirited is a half-sister to local stallion Antonius Pius (USA) by Fastnet Rock from Liocorne (by Sadler’s Wells).

Lot 67: Try this for size! Her name is Cantaballa (IRE), she’s a young, unraced mare by Galileo from Millanova (Danehill), a full-sister to stallion Holy Roman Emperor. Cantabella’s first foal by Rock Of Gibraltar will be sold at CTS PYS 2017, and you buy her in foal to Captain Al!
