The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an inquiry held in Johannesburg on 5 September 2019, Jockey Muzi Yeni was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.
This arose in that as the rider of SNOW IN SEATTLE, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to HOT AUGUST in the concluding stages of Race 9 at Turffontein Racecourse on 20 August 2019.
Jockey Yeni pleaded not guilty to the charge but was found guilty of the charge.
The Inquiry Board, after viewing the patrol films of the race, considering all the factors presented by Jockey Yeni and also taking into account his record with regard to this Rule, suspended him from riding in races for a period of ten days.
Jockey Yeni has the Right of Appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed.
