Has right of appeal against finding and penalty

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Durban on 29 February 2024, Jockey Sean Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.

The particulars being that as the rider of HIPPOCRATES, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to DROGARATI (M Yeni) and EDDIE THE MOVER (R Khathi) at the 300m in Race 6 at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse on 21 February 2024.

Jockey Veale pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of the charge.

The Inquiry Board, after having considered the evidence and the mitigating factors, imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of 7 days.

Jockey Veale was given the Right of Appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed.
