Interference – Wright Pleads Guilty

Has right of appeal against the penalty imposed

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse on 14 November 2021, Jockey Gareth Wright was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7. 

The particulars being that whilst riding CONGO COMPAQ, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to DON’T TOUCH ME (M Yeni) in the concluding stages of Race 8 at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse on 8 November 2021.

Jockey Wright pleaded guilty to the charge and was found guilty as charged.

The Inquiry Board, after considering the evidence and the mitigating factors, imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of 7 days.

Jockey Wright has the Right of Appeal against the penalty imposed.
