Inquiry – Jockey Lucas Bester
The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Johannesburg on 8 December 2010, Jockey Lucas Bester was charged with a contravention of Rule 77.1 read with Rule 77.2.10 in that a urine specimen taken from him at the Vaal Racecourse on 12 October 2010 disclosed upon analysis the presence of Furosemide, which is a prohibited substance in terms of the Rules of The National Horseracing Authority.
Mr Bester pleaded guilty to and was found guilty of the charge.
The Inquiry Board imposed a suspension from riding in races for a period of one month, of which two weeks are wholly suspended for a period of one year on condition that Mr Bester is not found guilty of a contravention of these Rules during that period.
Mr Bester has the right of appeal.
