In-Form Lerena Has The Chances Today

The first race at Turffontein is off at 12h10

Turffontein Racecourse plays host to a nine-race programme on the Standside course this afternoon. The first is due off at 12h10 with the lucky last set for 16h45.

Jockey Gavin Lerena rode a great double at Hollywoodbets Greyville last evening (Pic – Candiese Lenferna)

Gregarious Gal from the Mike and Adam Azzie yard is the best bet on the programme. She runs in the second race and will be partnered by Gavin Lerena, who rode a fine double at last evening’s Hollywoodbets Greyville racemeeting.

Gregarious Gal  produced a promising debut effort over this course and distance when showing good speed, but was caught in the latter stages by Vivacious Spirit. The daughter of Areion would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should take a power of beating.

Trainer Phillip Labuschagne saddles Midnight Gem in Race 7. She did not enjoy the fitting of the blinkers in her last start over 1000m at the Vaal.

She finished second in her only attempt over this distance. The daughter of Crusade runs well for Muzi Yeni and if jumping on terms, she can return to winning ways.
