Improving Service Delivery

We received a call on Tuesday from a reader, Mr Jim Clark of Johannesburg, regarding a discrepancy he had noted on Tellytrack with the results displayed on screen.

The error applied to the third race in Australia on Saturday, 14 July.

The results displayed as 1|3|7|10, but when Mr Clark went to the tote he observed that Tab displayed the results as 1|3|10|7.

Mr Clark informed Phumelela Media Executive Ken Rutherford of the problem and we also followed up with Mr Rutherford.

His investigation and response was done within the hour:
“This issue has highlighted a loop-hole in our system. When no fixed odds are provided on the scroll (all Aussie races) the data room operator has to input the provisional result manually into the system. For races where fixed odds prices are scrolled, the resulting process is automatic through Turfsport.

On this occasion, that is, the third race from Toowoomba @ 10h20 last Saturday, the original provisional result from the Tabcorp website had shown numbers 1-3-7-10.

Our data room operator inputted it manually. The dividends come through automatically and were assigned to those numbers, 1-3-7-10.

Unbeknown to the data room operator, the confirmed result differed from the Tabcorp provisional result and was in fact 1-3-10-7.

Thus the confusion and a fault at Tellytrack was that the error was not picked up.

We have had no other customer complaints about this issue. We have contacted Turfsport to improve the system, with regard to automatically resulting races where there are no fixed odds prices. We appreciate the interest.”
