Mauritzfontein’s Kingmambo stallion Ideal World, described as one of the best bred horses anywhere, has had the dogs barking for some time now. He registered his first winner on Sunday when the handsome bay colt Super Glue won the second race at Turffontein on Hennenman Memorial Day.
Ideal World is yet another stallion to turn heads on the eve of our big sale next week and his thirteen lots will be generating plenty of scrutiny by the astute.
The impressive aspect of his first crop, as observed by veteran trainer Robbie Sage, is that they have plenty of pace and can run early. That’s certainly a bonus for bidders on what could be Oaks and Derby type horses.
Sage had the 2yo colt Super Glue turned out fit and he overcame a wide draw over a distance short of his best to win the 1450m Maiden Plate over the Turffontein inside track, at just his second start.
He had run a promising third to subsequent stakes winner Isphan on debut.
Winning jockey Gunter Wrogemann said the colt did not show much at home but that he knew what to do when he arrived at the races.
“He will go much further than this. He kicked smartly when asked. I really think he is a lovely horse,” he said enthusiastically.
Trainer Robbie Sage said that he had a few Ideal World progeny in his yard and that he was excited by the stallion. He labelled Super Glue’s win meritorious, adding that he ran from a wide draw and showed courage and ability.
Ideal World has had only a handful of runners and his first representative Fah Fee was placed on debut. That is not bad if one considers that this stallion is likely to get them to stay on and won his races from 1950m to 2400m.
Super Glue’s dam, the four time winning Plugged Nickle mare Rawl Plug, is a prolific producer of winners. He is a half brother to Fort Wood progeny that include the Gr2 Emerald Cup winner Hilti, Gr2 Gerald Rosenberg Stakes winner Cork Wood and the recent and very promising Gr2 auteng Fillies Mile victress, Close The Gap
Ideal World’s half-sister, Romantica, won the Gr1 Prix Jean Romanet and was second in the 2013 Gr1 Breeders Cup F&M Turf
His champion dam, Banks Hill, is a full sister to outstanding sire Dansili – sire of six G1 winners in 2013
Banks Hill is a sister to promising first crop sire, and Horse of the Year, Champs Elysees, and G1 winner and sire Cacique
Ideal World won four races, including a Listed race in France. He ran second to French Derby winner Vision D ‘Etat in the Gr2 Prix Niel
His second dam Hasili produced five Gr1 winners and two Breeders Cup winners
Ideal World has the genes. He is by the same sire as top stallions King Kamehamaha, Lemon Drop Kid, King’s Best and Dubai Destination.
He is also from the same family as Leroidesanimaux, sire of the great Animal Kingdom.
Ideal World stands at Mauritzfontein for a fee of R10 000 (nomination) and R40 000 live foal.
