The National Horseracing Authority confirms in a media release published on Friday 2 December 2022, that in terms of rule 91.2, it has imposed an interim suspension on horses owned by Mr Mano Pandaram that were under the care of Trainer Lunga Gila until 30 November 2022.
Consequently, these horses that are in his ownership are suspended with immediate effect pending the determination of an investigation that has been opened. The particulars of the investigation are into alleged irregularities pertaining to the training and veterinary treatment of these horses.
In light of the seriousness of the matter, and the potential ramifications relating to the integrity of racing and the welfare of these horses involved, the Chief Executive and Racing Control Executive made this decision.
Mr Pandaram will be allowed access to his horses during this interim suspension period and considering that his trainer Mr Lunga Gila has relinquished his Trainer’s Licence.
Mr Pandaram has been advised to make urgent arrangements to relocate these horses. The NHA will be monitoring the situation closely.
