Former Coolmore stallion Oratorio arrived safely at his new home at the beautiful Avontuur Estate outside Somerset West today.

Having completed his time in quarantine at Kenilworth Racecourse, the new buzz stallion on the block has initiated a wildfire of interest in the South African racing and breeding community.

And as if to put the cherry on his arrival, his smart son Walking In Paris was an emphatic winner of the Gr2 Firebreak Stakes at Meydan in Dubai a few hours earlier!

Oratorio was an outstandingly versatile racehorse, winning from 1200m to 2000m. A Gr1 winning 2yo, Oratorio was also a dual Gr.1 winner of the Eclipse Stakes and Irish Champion Stakes at 3. This is the outstanding double completed by So You Think and champion sires Sadler’s Wells as well as Giant’s Causeway.

His first two Australian crops include exciting Gr.1 winner Manawanui, Gr.1 winning 2yo Banchee and Torio’s Quest, winner of the Gr2 Queensland Guineas and Listed $1 Million Gold Coast Magic Millions 3yo Guineas.

Oratorio made a huge impact on the European tables last season.

An excited Avontuur GM Pippa Mickleburgh said she couldn’t believe that the big day had arrived:

“What a smashing kind horse and he is so easy to work with. He has just the most kindest of eye. He arrived relaxed and in fantastic condition. I must say a huge word of thanks to all involved in getting him here,” she said.

Super stallion Var watched the new arrival from a distance but said that he doesn’t talk to the media.Pity!
