Gareth van Zyl – Perfect Putt could be his best

Gareth van Zyl has three runners at today’s Hollywoodbets Greyville racemeeting.

He spoke to Gold Circle’s Warren Lenferna.

  • Race 3: KATATOERA:

Is in very good health and is well in himself. He is fit and ready to run a good race. Having a good draw is hugely in his favour – he is a horse that needs a good gate. He ran disappointingly when drawn high due to not settling – from the good draw as well as the drop to the 1400 will be able to go forward and not be fought. Having said all that it is a competitive field.

  • Race 5: JALAPENO:

I have stretched him a bit to find out if he stayed – that never worked therefore the drop back to 1400 on the poly. This should see him run a better race. I am looking to see him finish his race off and I will assess things from there. I would be very happy if he ran into the money but there are probably better contenders in the race.

  • Race 7: PERFECTLY PUTT:

Probably my best chance on paper and is doing very well, fit and sound too. He will look good in the ring and cantering to start. Competitive race but dropping to the 1400 is not too much of an issue as he has won over the course and distance. He will be running fresh.
