We are back at the country course and hopeful for some decent results today.

Here are Justin Snaith’s comments for Hollywoodbets Durbanville:

Race 1

  • Groovejet is improving and will be the one to beat if he stays the 1800m trip.

Race 2

  • Lady Springfield is improving with each run and will be in the money again. English Mistress is a year older and could prove hard to peg back.

Race 3

  • Pacaya is a class sort and will produce his usual game effort.
  • Rapidash is better than his form suggests and will run a top race.
  • Rockpool returns from a break and will need this first run back.
  • Sachdev is always capable of causing an upset if he produces his best.

Race 4

  • Call To Unite was unlucky last time out and will go well again.
  • Daimyo is improving but his rating has gone up 15 points in 5 starts so we hope he has improved as much as his rating hike. He looks great and should be in the money but this is a step up in class. He is looking for further than 1800m but has been off for 73 days hence the shorter trip.
  • Gimme More Time won well last time out but that was against weaker company and he got 7 points for that win, so he’ll need to improve a lot with top weight.
  • Two a Penny the danger.

Race 5

  • Sail The Seas returns from a 73 day break but is relatively fit for his season opener. It’s always tough for a 3-year-old to take on older rivals but he does get a weight advantage and he has some class about him. He should deliver a sterling effort from the plum draw. This is a very open event with many having winning chances. 8-1 looks a good each-way bet.
  • Song To The Moon also returns from a 77 day break but is fairly fit. He has a horrid 12 draw but does have the services of inform Richard Fourie. It’s his first run out the maidens and we are hoping for a respectable effort, if he has some luck in running.
  • Unicorn Alert is back to form but will need some luck from a wide gate. He has Craig Zackey aboard which should improve his chances.

Race 7

  • Gimmelightning has improved a lot over recent months and will only have to overcome the 10 draw to win. Good each-way value at 6-1.

The Inspiring Story Of Dr Marianne Thomson

‘I am writing this as an older, small breeder and in our language, Markus, because this is our war. If I phoned you, I’d be overwhelmed by business jargon within a minute. What makes you so angry that you don’t care what you are doing to our shaky industry? How do you deal with this in your inner, quiet self?’
