Clairwood Racecourse (aka The Garden Course) was recently voted South Africa’s best track in a Sporting Post reader poll.
Multiple champion jockey Anthony Delpech reflected back to 26 August 1998, when he rode six winners on a day at Clairwood Racecourse.

“As mentioned earlier in the week, I’ve had some incredible milestones and achievements at the Garden Course, and on 26 August 1998, I rode six winners on a day!” said Anthony.
“It was the most winners I had ever ridden at one meeting, and although I fancied my chances, not all of them were favourites on the day.”
“Three of the winners were for the late Michael Airey, two for Alistair Gordon and the final one for Michael Roberts. Certainly a memory I will cherish forever!” he said in conclusion.
