In typical client friendly market leader fashion, South Africa’s premier Bookmaker Hollywoodbets will be paying out backers of the top two finishers of the controversy riddled Borrowdale Park fifth race on Sunday.
Despite clearly finishing in second, Eurakilon (1) was declared the winner at 28-10. The result was official, and Hollywoodbets paid out on this result.
The National Horseracing Authority have announced an investigation into the official result.
An inspection of the photo and mirror image reveals that Print The Pounds (4) at 6-1 should have been declared the winner. In an extraordinary gesture of goodwill, Hollywoodbets have made the decision to pay out on all fixed odds winning bets on Print The Pounds too.
They were crediting accounts where fixed odds bets were taken on Print The Pounds and that process should have been completed on Monday morning.
All payouts on Eurakilon will stand and all exotic and tote payouts will also stand.
“We are currently contacting our branches, who, on presentation of tickets on Print The Pounds, will pay out. Unfortunately if there is no ticket, we will not be able to pay out,” said a spokesman for the group.
