I remember backing Right Perogative but because of the weather didn’t bother to go down to the track on the day. Was a thrilling finish as one of my mates who was watching the race on TV had backed Tropicante. Had forgotten about him being one of those killed in the accident.
I’ve added the full photo finish on Facebook / Sporting Post’s account.

Thanks William !
Only a pleasure, Madame
Right Prerogative ?
Indeed Pmb, the rain in the morning added a whole new dimension to the Durban July, and yes, it was a thrilling finish. I have the full photo finish. I will see if I can get it to the Editor.
I think the horse was breed by the Carey’s in Somerset West.

Who will ever forget that day when no other race was run except the big one itself. What has happened to Mark Sutherland? Where in the world is he?
Hi Kurt,

What a rainy July, they almost called it off, Mark Sutherland rode Right Prerogative to perfection…………………….saying about greys go in the wet…………proven, especially for tho who remember Kelso Belle and Skid Row in the wet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please can you post the video of his July win? It was such an extraordinary race, being so wet.
