Cilaneum trained by Terrence Millard in the 1970’s
Well done Glynis!! 2 out of 3 – it is indeed Cilaneum and she was trained by Terrance Millard. However, the year was 1969 (the first year the Fillies Guineas was run as a classic) and it was the first of Mr Millard’s 9 Fillies Guineas titles. Were you there to see the filly race, or are you also a history buff?
I don’t like to admit it, but, yes I did see her run. Makes me feel antiquated.
But that’s fantastic – we’d love to hear any stories or memories you might like to share of the day ?
Very timely to remember Terrance Millard’s amazing record in the prestigious Cape fillies races. Another one of Terrance’s Fillies Guineas winners in those early years was Kendal Green purchased by him as a yearling for my father. Kendal Green became a foundation mare of our Varsfontein Stud – dam of Grade 1 winner This England , grandam of multiple graded stakes winner Sabina Park and great-grandam of Master Sabina.
