Highlands four-times Equus Champion sire Dynasty underlined his superb versatility and extraordinary ability to strike at the top-level again when his sons Eyes Wide Open and Our Emperor scored feature wins on the second day of the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate Festival Of Racing at Kenilworth on Saturday.
The only stallion on the premier day to register a feature double, the irrepressible son of Fort Wood delivered the goods with 2yo Gr1 winner Eyes Wide Open booking his Gr1 Sun Met berth with a superb win as a 3yo against older horses in the Glorious Goodwood Gr2 Peninsula Handicap.
Earlier Dynasty’s staying 4yo Our Emperor got up in the dying strides to win the Gr3 Chairman’s Cup and confirm his medium term Gold Cup aspirations.
Respective winning trainers Glen Kotzen and Brett Crawford are avid Dynasty supporters and have enjoyed wide-ranging success with his progeny.
A past SA Horse Of The Year, Dynasty is the proud sire of over 50 stakes winners and producer of champions of the ilk of stallions Futura, Irish Flame, Jackson and Legislate, as well as fairer sex stars like Lady In Black, Beach Beauty, Bela-Bela and Just Sensual .
The grand sire has 12 lots on offer at the Cape Premier Yearling Sale at the CTICC on 20 and 21 January, including prime buyer targets out of high-class racemares All Is Secret (# 187), Happy Archer (# 23), One Fine Day (# 86) and Var stayer, Princess Of Light (# 110).
Dynasty’s home base Highlands has a high-class draft of 14 youngsters, including four by their champion, including #42, a half-brother to graded stakes winning 2yo’s Olympic Owen and Speedy Suzy out of a Gr2 placed daughter of great Kingmambo -the family of champion US sire Exclusive Native, and Gr1 winners Charismatic, General Assembly, Poet’s Voice and Versailles Treaty.
Another Dynasty is # 112, a smashing colt who is bred on the same cross as Brett Crawford’s Gr1 winner Lady Of The House.
