Hawwaam’s Little Sister – Next Time

Queit debut for Silvano daughter

Champion Hawwaam’s full-sister In Limbo made a quiet debut in club colours in a 1160m Maiden Plate at Turffontein on Saturday.

Gavin Lerena rode the 3yo, who jumped at 17-4, but was expected to need it and is obviously looking for further.

She ended up running sixth and 5,60  lengths behind Gary Alexander’s more experienced Act Of War filly, Run April Run.

In Limbo also finished a quarter length behind her lesser fancied stablemate and 4yo debutante, Bend Not Break. The Australian-bred daughter of Invincible Spirit went off at 66-1.

Mike de Kock said on his website, www.mikedekockracing.com last week that In Limbo hasn’t shown ‘near Hawwaam’s ability’, and that they were expecting her to improve on her debut.

But there is plenty of expectation on In Limbo!

Her Wilgerbosdrift based multiple champion dam Halfway To Heaven (Jet Master) has already produced three Gr1 winners in Rainbow Bridge (Ideal World), In Limbo’s full brother Hawwaam (Silvano) and Golden Ducat (Philanthropist).

A winner of seven races, including both the Gr3 Prix Du Cap and Off To Stud Handicap, Halfway To Heaven has been South Africa’s Broodmare Of The Year for the past two seasons.

Assistant Trainer Alston Ndzilana signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R250-00 was imposed after In Limbo ran in club colours on Saturday.
