Greyville – It’s A Rush, literally!

You snooze, you lose - get your bets on now

‘Twenty-Twenty’ horseracing was introduced at Greyville on 17 April 2015 and this evening sees another meeting with only twenty minute intervals between races.

QUICKFIRE-2-300x300While there is a 40% chance of rain, the action starts with the first off at 18h15 and will be over nine races later at 20h55!

“Cricket has successfully embraced various formats of the game and, taking a leaf out of their book, Gold Circle have introduced horseracing’s equivalent of the limited overs format,” said Marketing Executive Graeme Hawkins at the time of the test meeting.

In order to manage the evening, races will alternatively be restricted to professionally qualified jockeys and the remaining races to apprentice riders only.

The jockeys will thus ride in races 1,3,5,7 and 9 on Friday evening, with the apprentices strutting their stuff in races 2,4,6 and 8.

Trainers and officials will again be under pressure to ensure the meeting goes off on schedule as planned but have pledged their full support of a race meeting designed to keep everyone, including the racing fans, on their toes.

“One always has to expect the unexpected, especially in horse racing, but here’s hoping for an action-packed burst of exciting racing,” concluded Hawkins.
