Greeff Holds Fairview Ace

The first race at Fairview is off at 12h20

Fairview Racecourse plays host to an eight-race programme on the turf track this afternoon.

The main event of the day is the Non-Black Type Cradock Place Stakes over 1200m.

The first is due off at 12h20.

Santa Therese – the best bet on the programme!

Trainer Alan Greeff saddles Santa Therese in Race 4 and she is the best bet on the card. She was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 2000m on this course.

She has won three times, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this course and distance. Richard Fourie retains the ride and despite her big mass of 62kgs, she should notch up her eleventh career victory.

The non black-type Cradock Place Stakes is the feature on the programme.

Wayne Agrella replaces the indisposed Muzi Yeni on Justin Snaith’s Captain Tatters, who is better than his last three starts suggest.

It must be noted that Trip Of Fortune has come out and won a Grade 3 since. He has won once and finished second once from three starts over today’s track-and-trip. He is having his peak run and will be cherry-ripe. On best form shown, he can return to winning ways.

The very talented Cliff Top (Pic – Pauline Herman)

The smart 3yo Cliff Top showed some signs of needing his first run as a gelding over this course and distance last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He carries a handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs and should give his older rivals a run for their money.

Miss Venezuela from the Jacques Strydom yard may be the horse to close off the meeting. She showed good improvement in her first run for the yard. She was running on when second behind Hereinafter over 1000m on this course, two weeks ago. She won her only attempt over this course and distance.

The cheekpieces have done the trick and she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

Please note that Muzi Yeni is not riding today.
