CTS Cape Premier Yearling Sale graduates by Varsfontein sire Gimmethegreenlight made a clean sweep of the nurseries on Derby day at Kenilworth when Gimme Dat bounced clear to win the R125 000 Gr3 Kenilworth Fillies Nursery for international owner, Bjorn Nielsen.
In another small field feature, Gimme Dat (2-1) was the lesser fancied of the Snaith trio on jockey choice, but took off late to hold off her stablemates Winter Mosaic (19-10) and Super Siri (25-1) in a 1-2-3 for the Snaith Racing Team.
Gimme Dat was an impressive winner on debut and her win mirrored that of Cosmic Highway a half hour earlier in the colts’ race.
Ridden by Grant van Niekerk, Gimme Dat won by an unextended 2,75 lengths in a time of 73,26 secs.
The winner was bred by Lammerskraal from the twice winning Western Winter mare, Mizzen Mast.
She has won two from two and took her stakes to R120 000.
South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2015-2016, Gimmethegreenlight has produced near 60 stakes horses and has three offspring (#129, #144, #184) on Sunday’s Cape Yearling Sale.
