Kannemeyer’s 2017 Curtain Call

Dynasty filly maintains unbeaten record

Dean Kannemeyer ended 2017 on a high at Greyville on Sunday when his smart Dynasty filly Hashtagyolo showed her class and maintained her perfect record with a fluent victory in the R250 000 Gr3 Flamboyant Stakes.

Winning pair – Hashtagyolo and Anthony Delpech

The Varsfontein-bred 3yo, a facile course-and-distance winner in October, returned from a ten week break over a distance short of her optimum trip and beat a classy field to register her first stakes success.

Dean Kannemeyer – good winner

Jockey Anthony Delpech, who has been aboard at all of the filly’s three wins, expressed some reservations prior to the race that the mile was the minimum chop for Hashtagyolo and that she could well be run off her feet. But the champion jockey’s doubts were unfounded.

Tucked in midfield in the early stages as Sail and She’s A Giver showed the way, Hastagyolo was taken wide to use her big stride and she made up ground in the home run to hit the front early and win going away.

Hashtagyolo registered a time of 97,24 secs and disposed of the year older stakes performed Sail and the progressive Roy’s Riviera easily. Gr3 winning Joburg visitor She’s A Giver ran on steadily to grab fourth cheque.

Legislate’s full-sister and recent debut winner Statute started tote favourite but never showed to run well downfield.

Dynasty

Dynasty (Fort Wood – Blake’s Affair)

A R1,1 million BSA National Yearling Sale graduate, the Varsfontein Stud-bred Hashtagyolo races for Bruce le Roux and Tinus Gericke and is a daughter of champion producer Dynasty (Fort Wood) out of the one-time winner My Guiding Star (Jallad). The winner is thus bred on the same Dynasty/Jallad cross as Gr1 winners It’s My Turn and last season’s Premiers Champion Stakes winner Eyes Wide Open.

Unbeaten in three starts, Hashtagyolo took her stakes bank to R282 375.

She can only improve further as she matures and the word from the Dean Kannemeyer yard is that she may be aimed at the Highveld features in early 2018.
