Trainer Paul Peter hit the Champions Day boards with his final runner on the Highveld Season closer. Sabina’s Dynasty was an impressive winner of the R400 000 Gr2 Gerald Rosenberg Stakes and she could well go on from here.
The half-sister to dual Sansui Summer Cup star Master Sabina runs for Piere Strydom and lifted her game again to register her first stakes success, on an afternoon that saw her champion sire enjoy a Gr1, Gr2 and Gr3 winner.
Sabina’s Dynasty was astutely purchased as a maiden for R170 000 off the 2017 August Kenilworth Sale as part of her owner-breeder Mike de Broglio’s dispersal .
She has improved into her 4yo season and never let the side down since and impressed on Saturday when changing legs late to go on by the game Bi Pot to win by a half lengths in a time of 126,64 secs.
Girl On The Run was prominent for much of the 2000m trip and stayed on for third a further 2,30 lengths back, with the 18-10 favourite Wind Chill a disappointing fourth.
The winner was bred by Mike de Broglio and is a daughter of Dynasty (Fort Wood) out of the versatile five-time winner Sabina Park (Sportsworld), who won the SA Oaks in 2004. The latter was bought for R55 000 by De Broglio off Varsfontein’s 2002 National Yearling Sales draft.
The 4yo Sabina’s Dynasty has won 4 races with 10 places from 18 starts for stakes of R620 725.
Piere Strydom has been through something of a dry spell and this will hopefully be a booster in advance of more opportunities in the SA Champions Season features.
