Registering a hat-trick of wins, including his second stakes victory on the trot, Gimme One Night was easy to back at 5-2 in the eight horse field and came from last to mow his opposition down inside the 200m.

The mare Xanadu led Walter Smoothie and PE visitor Sheet Weaver early on, with Gimme One Night in the back seat.
Into the home run, Gauteng raider Walter Smoothie made an early bid before being tackled by Pacific Chestnut and topweight Strathdon.
But with the whips cracking late in the 3200m contest, It was Gimme One Night who finished strongly under an elated Lyle Hewitson to get the 0,40 length verdict over outsider Pacific Chestnut in a time of 212,38 secs.
Strathdon, not quite himself at this stage, stayed on a further 0,75 lengths back in third.

Bred by Riverton Stud, the winner is a son of 2012 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winner Gimmethegreenlight (More Than Ready) out of the one-time winning Fiesta Queen – a daughter of Parade Leader.
