Legislate – From The Clouds!

The second log for Africa's greatest

Justin Snaith’s 2014 Vodacom Durban July winner Legislate was the most notable mover when the second log for the big race was published on Wednesday.

Legislate cruises in his Barrier Trial last Wednesday

In a memorable season, the Cape family team of Snaith Racing top the SA Champion trainer log and have six entries in the top eleven of the revised log for Africa’s greatest race.

On the strength of an impressive Barrier Trial at Scottsville last Wednesday, champion racer and retired Drakenstein stallion Legislate is in 9th position on his comeback to a track career, despite not having raced for two years.

The decision to include him on the strength of no race action, and on a relatively unpressured Barrier Trial is a brave one by the panel, and will no doubt elicit some debate!

His stablemate and Saturday’s WSB 1900 winner Elusive Silva comes in at number seven, while Duncan Howells’ Daisy Fillies Guineas victor Fiorella is fifteenth after being supplemented.

Candice Bass-Robinson’s Selangor Cup winner Rocket Countdown, originally suggested as not quite being up to July winning class, is on the fringes and needs a big run in Saturday’s Winter Classic at Kenilworth to book his ticket.
