The four-time Gr1 winning daughter of Silvano won the HSH Princess Charlene Empress Club Stakes at Turffontein last Saturday over a mile – a trip too short for her.
Trainer Paul Peter initially had his doubts about the Gr1 clash just a fortnight on, and told the Sporting Post on Monday that he felt that the Premier’s Champions Challenge was too closely spaced to that run.
But after a meeting on Friday with Steve and Jess Jell of Mauritzfontein, a decision was made to go for the spectacular three-way clash of the local giants.
Peter said that his charge had come through her race well and was in the pink of health this week.
“Let’s take them on!” he said.
That sets the stage for a great race!
