Bid to have meeting delayed fails

The Sporting Post has learnt that Gold Circle’s Special General Meeting scheduled for Thursday via Zoom will proceed after the Pietermaritzburg High Court reportedly dismissed an urgent application brought to have it postponed.

Owner Nic Jonsson, in a letter issued last week on behalf of himself and a concerned group of members, had urged the Gold Circle Board to postpone the meeting, which was convened to broadly remove any impediment in the constitution and the Memorandum of Incorporation that safeguards the ringfenced proceeds from the sale of the Clairwood property.

Mr Jonsson asked that the meeting be postponed until circumstances permitted it could be held in person.

‘This is an outrageous request which needs vigorous debate and one that must be halted forthwith’, he wrote in a letter to the Board.

A further report to follow.
